I once watched an episode of the series Murdoch Mysteries, and in one of the scenes, there was a scene where the lawyer of the accused gave his ending argument, which was very well said and sounded inspirational, but it didn’t affect the decision of the jury, much like in Monster since both Monster and the TV show had already show all possible witnesses and evidence.

With the trial coming to an end, Briggs, O’Brien and Petrocelli bring up their ending arguments after Mr. Sawicki ends with his testimony, claiming him to be an honest man. All three speeches were thought through and very well said. During the next days, Steve and King learn that there is a money pool going around for the result of the verdict. As the verdict comes in, we realize, in utmost relief that Steve was found to be innocent and King was going to spend 25 years behind bars. Steve is still disturbed by the events and noticed that his dad still sees him like a criminal.
