We’ve developed the PRC (Present Attending Remotely) code.  It will be similar to how a Tardy works and will have the following attributes:

 

Note: We think it is still a good idea for 1^st and 5^th period teachers to use ABS, if a student is not physically present until they can verify that the student is attending remotely.

 

Community Attendance Update:  Unfortunately, we are unable to track attendance for Community in Synergy because there are not defined groups students assigned to teachers like courses are during the regular school schedule.  We do need to track Community attendance within the building.  Here is the process for taking attendance during Community Time:

Afternoon Time: Intervention and Enrichment

*If you are arranging for students to come back in the afternoon, remember, they need to be re-screened.  Be sure to coordinate their return time so you can meet them at the main entrance.  Notify Keri Bridgman, bridgmank@bsd405.org, and she can be available for support.

 

 

Why?  To account for students and ensure every in-person student completes a health attestation, which is hopefully done before entering the building – if the student Health Check/attestation is not completed, we need to know where that student is. The only way we know where a student is physically located is to look in Synergy, but if not submitted in Synergy, we have to enter the classroom to ask the teacher. 

 

Goal:  By marking students present, we know in-person students are in the school building and need a health attestation. By marking students PRC or ABS, we know those students are not in the school building and do not need a health attestation. 

 

Process: 

 

The health attestation team is comprised of eight staff, who in very simple terms, run around the school building, every period of every school day, seeking out students that we believe need a health attestation. When in reality, maybe 1% of those students need a health check, the remaining 99% are PRC or ABS. While we are happy to see each other again, most teachers, especially by 3^rd period, are no longer happy to see us because we keep disrupting their class.

FFP: failure to follow procedure, unexcused (parent excuses absence beyond the two-day threshold)

ICO: Covid19 illness, excused

OSR: out of school removal, excused

PRA: prearranged absences, excused (for absences not school related: travel, college visit, athletics outside of school)

PRC: Present Attending Remotely, only for in-person hybrid students

QUA: quarantine, excused. 

REL: religious, excused

SA: school activity

SOC: Covid 19 Support

SS: skipped school, unexcused

TE, tardy excused (< ½ class late with an email excuse from parent, otherwise it’s RLA)

TI: no internet or technology, excused

TU, tardy unexcused (< ½ class late)

UAB: unexcused absence (arrived, but missed more than ½ class)

UER: unexcused early release (left school without proper excusal)

VUX: Virtual unexcused absence, like ABS, but for virtual students

WS: with staff, school activity

 

You can make changes to ABS and PRC codes in Synergy. For example, if you see a student marked PRC and they are physically in front of you, mark them present. If you see a student marked PRC and they are not online, mark them ABS.
