As a reader, I connected to the protagonist Salva. I connected to Salva because when he first came to the U. S he had to live in Rochester where it was really cold. Salva had to get use of the cold freezing wind, because where he use to live in South Sudan (Africa) they only had wet and dry seasons. The U. S has 4 different seasons. I can connect to Salva because I was born and grow up in South Carolina. It hardly ever snowed there, but if it snowed it would be gone the next day. So when I moved here to Syracuse I had to get use to the cold and snowy days to.

I recommend this book to people who really like suspense. if you like to read suspense novels then you would love to read A Long Walk to Water. A Long Walk to Water is very suspenseful because sometimes when you are reading Salva's story at the end of most chapters it leaves you on a cliffhanger (leaves you in suspense).

As a reader, I connected to the story because when I read books about killers, or suicide they are the books that I like to read because they tell the story so good it makes you feel like you are in that story. Sometimes when I read a book about this kind of thing, when I go to bed at night I would often dream about being in the main character's feet and being the one to find the body and having to be interviewed a bunch of times by the police. I would have been in the situation at one time or another and having murders being pinned on me and the thing that sucked the most was every time it gets to the point where I have figured out who did it or what really happened to the person I wake up at that point in my dream. But at least I know who really did it and it would never be me of course.

I recommend this book to all the people who really likes a good mystery and a little romance thrown in there together.
