The colosseum was used for gladiator fights to the death. These fight were attended by the wealthy and the less fortunate people and often the emperor. Vespasian’s son Titus opened the colosseum. The gladiators were usually slaves, criminals, and war prisoners. They held fights for entertainment purposes and they made an attempt to restore the senates authority. If the ground becomes too saturated with blood,, It would be topped with a new layer of sand and the fight would continue. the fight would end when one of the gladiators die .Restoration efforts began in the 1990s

It was destroyed by fire in 80 CE and stuck by lighting in 110 CE and burned down again. It is a Roman temple dedicated to all the gods of Rome.
