His mom reminds him that he had to go away and then he's not so happy anymore. He doesn't want to leave his home; his mom. When they walk to the metro station, David is very sad to see his neighbours' house ruined. At the station first he is confused when seeing all those children gathered, but when hee sees his friend, Tucky, he feels happy. During the train trip he sometimes forgets the horrible pictures from London and can dream of a safe new home in the country. Life at the farm is good for the boys and they almost forget the war, until one day when a German bomber plane crashes nearby.
