Try restarting your computer

Power shut-down. Click the apple icon in the left hand corner. Click on Force Quit.

Of that doesn't help it try to reboot your computer. If you frozen screen stops you from moving your curser, then hold down the power button.

Check your network cables.

Make sure your Wi-Fi connection is on, and you have selected the correct source.

Close some of your windows if you are not using them.

Try to force quit the app. If that doesn't work then restart your computer.

Check from updates.

Delete and download the app again.

Open the Activity Monitor. See how much of your CPU is being used for your apps. To keep the apps from taking up more of your computer resources then it is suppose to, highlight apps that you don't use often, click the X in the corner, and Quite or Force Quite the apps.
