Symptoms of the Black Death were: 

• high fever
•  aching limbs
•  fatigue These symptoms led into lymph nodes in the neck and other places to swell. Soon enough, these boils turned black and then began to burst, leading the victim in to vomiting up blood and weakening their bones, almost preventing them from standing. Within a few days of receiving the virus, you could be dead or dying. Very many lives were claimed in a few short days in this fearful epidemic.

The plague virus, Versinia pestis, was very contagious. If you coughed or sneezed on someone while you were carrying the disease, you already infected them with the virus. According to www.history.com/topics/black-death, the Black Death arrived in Europe on a ship of man that had contracted the virus from elsewhere. Feeling ill, they returned home. Once their hometown realized that the ship was containing illness, they tried to turn them away, but most of the village had already caught the virus. The Black Death stole the lives of a vast amount of people in the 14th century. The bubonic plauge has a mortality rate of 50%, the pneumonic plague at 100%, and the septicemic plague at 100% as well.
Over a five year period, 25 million people died. For example, cancer is a serious disease that claims lives every year. Since 1990, there have been approximately 5 million cancer deaths, according to www.thomlatimercares.org/Cancer_Facts.htm. According to www.livescience.com/11041-10-deadliest-cancers-cure.html, lung and bronchial cancer is the most deadly, claiming 792,495 lives. Also, about 2 in 3 people are diagnosed with lung cancer, according to the American Cancer Society. 
So, as you can see, lung cancer has a very hindering effect on society, but lung cancer is not the only type of cancer people are diagnosed and dying of every day. There are over 100 types of cancer, according to Live Science. All of these have derogatory effects on the body and are harmful in their own ways.
