Sensual donuts. A simple everyday item seen in a new way. The large scale creates such impact.

When I saw her work in person it placed her in first place for my favorite painter.First, the scale. Her canvases are monumental.

I learned that she was inspired by Monet. That's easy to imagine when looking at her paintings. Monet began to lose his eyesight, he considered giving up his painting. The French Rerpublique sent an ambassador to convince him to continue. Without that support/belief we may never have had the chance to experienced his water lilies.

Joan Mitchell is next gen. Abstract Impressionism came from NY and stole the limelight from the Impressionists in popst WWII. I

In my humble opinion, you can't get better than Joan Mitchell. Major Swoon.
