"I do declare that from this day hence though shan't go forth and pass east of thy mountains, I do declare." (He just came back from a trip to the south, well in his dreams)

 This got the colonists mad since they just fought a war for this land, and now they wanted to colonize it.

But after years of freedom from these taxes, the colonists were fueled with resentment towards the British since they suddenly started to tax common goods, and they were no longer able to trade with other nations (Navigation Acts). This with the fact that the colonists believed the British weren't allowing them go east of the Appalachian mountains since they had just fought for this land against the French.
