1. because they wanted to know what was in it
2. For 1 person to live. Because they might not like some of the people that are in the village
3. Because it's a tradition
4. No because I don't see anyone just killing people for the hell of it
5. I think that the people think that the lottery is the last ma standing
6. I would have hide until they couldn't kill anyone else then would have found the last person then stoned him/her
7. I felt like the people were crazy doing the lottery. I was like "oh okay?" that's different
8. I don't think that this sort of lottery would happen in our community because someone would do something about it.
9.

1. the black box decides the fate of people in the community therefore it is important to bring attention to the box.
2. The purpose of the tradition is to help crops grow and preform tradition they continue to do it because of peer pressure and tradition.
3. It has lasted so long because it is tradition and people are afraid of changing it after its been there for thousands of years.
4. yes this does compare to some of the things in real life. are traditions don't include killing people but e do have traditions like holidays
5. I think that the village for the most part wants to change but they are afraid to because that is all they every knew.
6.

1. Because it is the main way the story is foreshadowed and plays a big part in the outcome. The tradition is very old and used like the box, yet there is still no way to rid of the tradition.
2. The purpose of the lottery in the village is to keep the tradition of growing crops going. They still participate in it because they believe everyone else is doing it so they feel obligated to.
3. Because no one will actually stand up and say stop.
4. One event that sticks out is the holocaust. They knew that their death would be worse if they didn't follow the orders.
5. They are probably 50/50. Like most people they don't mind it until it affects themselves.
6. Cause a distraction until we had the chance to get away.
7. It was a surprise. We all thought something odd would happen in the village but not something this crazy and deathly.
8. No, because we have laws against situations like this.
9. In our society when we hear lottery we think of money but also like relating to the story, luck. Like you would lucky to win today's lottery and lucky to loose the lottery presented in the story.
10. We think it foreshadows the right for standing up for what you believe in.
11. A story like this can be inferred in many ways. And hearing other ideas and inputs just furthers our knowledge of things we may have missed or not understood.

1.) they spent alot of time because it was a big part of the tradition and after they lost it , it was like they lost part of the tradition .
2.) the purpose was to see who was to be sacraficed for the crops .
3.) because they realy want the crops to be good and to grow fast .
4) there is nothing realy the same that we know of
5.) we think that they dont think that it is bad because they have always done it .
6.) if we where in tessies situation we would say this is messed up and rip the paper up .
7.) that it was disturbing that they killed a child and they could have killed someone old or realy sick and that it was not right .
8.) no , cause the cops are kinda of good now compared to ciarras home town cops .
9.) when we see or hear the word lottery we think of money.

1. In the beginning of the short story, the reader doesn't think that the lottery would be as dark as it really is, so the box shows that there is some bad in this "lottery"
2. The lottery is made to make sure the crops grow. the people participate in it because everyone does.
3. It is such a long tradition because everyone is afraid to fight against the lottery. what if they decide to quit the lottery and then the crops fails.
4.I don't think I have anything in real life that I could compare it to.
5.The older people in the village fell it is a great tradition and it should continue. however, the younger people don't really like the tradition. It frightens them.
6. I would've ran. she could've ran
7. I was a little shocked by the ending. she dies in such a brutal way. It had a wicked twist. I don't believe it should've ended that way.
8. I don't think this could take place in my community. i believed anyone in their right mind would find this tradition outrageous.
9. It confused me because when you hear "lottery" you think money or good fortune. i didnt think at all that she was going to get beat to death with rocks.
10. It is okay to be different and stray from your ways, sometimes it needs to be done.
11. i beleive we're on the same page and we all belive this tradition is crazy.

1. It gives a more suspenseful and mysterious feel to it, as well as it does help reflect on the tradition.
2. They think/believe that if you were to sacrifice a person once a year so help bring "good crops" or help them grow better. This is simply based off of religion and tradition.
3. The villagers are just so used to the ways of their tradition that they either don't want change but are afraid of change itself.
4. The holocaust. In both situations people were killed based off of religious belief.
5. They are mostly at part with the tradition, except when it become one of them in which they do feel that their tradition is indeed broken.
6. Ran, we would be scared as well as would have had an easier way to escape and survive.
7. We were surprised
8. No, we are not nearly as primitive as these villagers.
9. We had thought that it was most likely like or at least similar to ours in way that the reward would be in place at the end of the lottery. But the way the story portrayed it had brought a different thought to mind unlike our initial idea of the lottery.
10. Yes, to stand up for yourself and others.
11. It has not changed our ideas and thoughts from the perception of others.

1. It was the main thing in the story that had a big part
2. Because its a tradition
3. Because its been around for 77 years and they think their crops to grow.
4.
5. They feel pressured about it because everyone is doing it
6. She would have stoned the person that was it easily.
7.
