The Tech Act promoted awareness for people to have access to assistive technology devices and services. It served to provide AT devices to persons with a disability so that they could be included and participate in education, and employment. It allowed those with a disability to feel equal with everyone else in their community. The great thing about this act was that it authorized funding so that states could perform needs assessments. The Tech Act was reauthorized in 1994, 1998, and 2004. The reauthorizations were made to revise technology related assistance programs for individuals with Disabilities Act of 1988.
