2.) After Beowulf kills Grendel’s mother he takes Grendel's head back with him. Beowulf found Grendel's body in the corner of the room and cut his head off of his body. On page 59, line 540 the story states, “But Beowulf repaid him for those visits, Found him lying dead in his corner, Armless, exactly as that fierce fighter Had sent him out from Herot, Then struck off his head with a single blow.” This line from the story shows where he found Grendel’s body and how he got his head. In conclusion, after Beowulf killed Grendel’s mother he searched the house for Grendel’s body and took his head.

The reason why Hrothgar asked Beowulf to battle Grendel’s mother after Grendel's death. Is because Grendel’s mother Attacks Heorot and kidnaps Hrothgar’s closest friend . On page 45 line 411 the story states “She took a single victim and fled the hall” also in line 414 “She’d taken Hrothgar’s closest friend” That is the textual evidence from the poem to show that Grendel's mother took Hrothgar’s friend and why Hrothgar asked Beowulf to battle her. In conclusion Hrothgar asked for Beowulf to battle and defeat Grendel's mother because his closest friend was taken by her.

After The Battle with Grendel's mother Beowulf takes Grendel's head back with him. Beowulf observed Grendel's body toward the edge of the room and cut his head off of his body. On page 59, line 540 the story states, "Yet Beowulf repaid him for those visits, Found him lying dead in his corner, Armless, exactly as that fierce fighter Had sent him out from Herot, Then hit off his head with a single blow." This shows where Beowulf observed Grendel's body and the way in which he got his head. All in all, after Beowulf kills Grendel's mother he looks around the house for Grendel's corpse and takes Grendel's head with him.

The actions of Beowulf after slaying Grendel's mother is key in the story in putting an end to the monster. After killing his mother, Beowulf comes upon Grendel in his mothers cave and chops his head off then justifies his final actions by discussing with the group of men with him that Grendel was too much of a menace to take a chance of him still being alive. Within the passage on page 59, it states “Found him lying dead in his corner, Armless, exactly as that fierce fighter had sent him out from Herot, then struck off his head with a swift blow. The body jerked for the last time, then laid still.” This shows the actions of Beowulf after killing Grendel's mother and how much of a threat he thought Grendel the menacing monster needed to die after viciously killing and terrorizing the people of the towns. In conclusion Beowulf despised Grendel very much so slicing his head was the only way he felt comfortable leaving bringing justice to the town from the Monster.

Grendel's mother never being spoken of by her name is peculiar and contradicts the knowledge that she is just like Grendel or more like mankind. I believe that Grendel's mother may be a crossbreed of man and beast, Siren like. Then, Beowulf never referring to her by her name may mean that she is a forbidden figure during these times like she was pushed away from society because she was unlike the regular people but known to be a harm for society. In the poem page 57 line 554 it states “at once the greedy she-wolf who’d ruled the waters for half a hundred years” which means she was a water based monster and later in the story it vaguely describes her human shape and talks about how she had claws and how the waters she was in were cursed like how a siren has mystical powers and feminine human looks. This represents why she could have been looked at as more human than monster because she resembled a human's features more than monster. Sirens in mythology are known to prey on men, so her having the monster child that also terrorizes men adds up. Even though the story doesn't completely give a description of her physically it gives small adjectives to describe her features so the idea of the siren seems more realistic in the mythological story.

On page 55 line 411 through line 417 , the text stated "Took a single victim and fled from the hall, Running to the moors, discovered, but her supper Assured, sheltered in her dripping claws. She’d taken Hrothgar’s closest friend, The man he most loved of all men on earth; She’d killed a glorious soldier, cut A noble life short. No Geat could have stopped her" This proves the reason Hrothgar ask beowulf to battle Grendel's mother, Because Grendel's mother kidnapped his closest friend. In conclusion that Hrothgar ask Beowulf to battle with Grendel's mother because she had kidnapped Hrathgar's closest friend.

After Beowulf  kills Grendel's mother, he sees the body of Grendel nearby and he cuts off Grendel's head, then Beowulf swims back to the surface and proceeds with the Danes to Heorot, where he presents the head to Hrothgar. On page 59, line 540 the story states, "Yet Beowulf repaid him for those visits, Found him lying dead in his corner, Armless, exactly as that fierce fighter Had sent him out from Herot, Then hit off his head with a single blow." In this line shows where Grendel's body was found and how Beowulf got Grendel's head . In conclusion, after Beowulf killed Grendel's mother, he found Grendel's body, he cut off Grendel's head and took it back with him.
