The burglars were later caught but they found out Nixon was involved. Since he didn't follow the rule of law he had to be put on trial. He went to the impeachment process but before the process was over he resigned.
The outcome of the case was Nixon had resigned and was found guilty but was pardoned by 4.This has impacted today's government because it was a little more strict on the presidents. It also comes back to that case if it ever happens again.

What- made a prank phone call to a neighbor
When- 1966
Where- Arizona, Gila County
Why- It is important because his rights were violated.
How- It ended with Gault being set free.
Summary- In 1966, Gerald Gault was making prank phone calls with his friends.  His neighbor called the police and they came and arrested Gault without giving him any rights.  He was sentenced to 7 years at a boarding school but was set free because of his violated rights- 6th amendment and 14th amendment.

Ernesto Miranda was caught while doing a crime, but the police did not tell him his self incrimination rights. His due process rights were also violated. He then appealed his case to the Arizona supreme court but, was denied. Finally, he  took the case to the Supreme Court and they said the opposite  and was not guilty. Just for that the police no make sure they read their rights for due process and self incrimination. The police arrested Miranda and asked him lots of questions. The police officers did not tell Miranda about his rights when he is arrested. The 5th amendment of the U.S. had been violated. Miranda appealed the case to the Arizona Supreme Court and Miranda's attorney argued that Miranda was not informed of his rights. He hardly spoke any English and was unknowingly  self incriminating himself, he was arrested in 1966. Not knowing his rights against self incrimination.(Being the 5th amendment and some could argue the 4th Amendment) His rights in the constitution that were being violated. Luckily in a 5 to 4 Supreme court verdict. The supreme court added a system where anyone under arrest will have their rights read to them to avoid anyone else to go through the same order of events as well as to prevent others from getting away with such serious crimes.
