The source of the nile is white nile in burundi, it flows through lake victoria and goes to sudan. In sudan the white nile spreads to make a swamp. The swamp is called the sudd, it connects up to the blue nile that flows from ethiopia. Nile meanders across its flood plains forms a big delta. Then is flows to the medatairian sea. Summer rains and snow is melting and that couses the nile to flood its banks, this happens every autumn. When the flood stops it makes fertile mud. This mud can be used to grow crops in the river banks.

Building dams in egypt helped with controling the flow of the nile. The biggist one is aswan dam, it holds the flood water in lake nasser. The people that live next to the nile don't need to worry because aswan dam is holding the flood water. Small canals have been made to hold water to the villiges and feilds. Water going through the dam will make electricity.

The water in lake nasser evaporates because of the hot sun. A lot of mud to grow crops would have grow if there was no dams, but there usefull. Without the mud people would use chemical furtalizer on crops. The mud in the delta is turning salty because there is no fresh water for the mud in the delta becuse of the medaterrian sea.
