Now, to get to the song. Firstly, it begins with a beautiful set of instruments in the background, and then the lyrics start off with: "I hear you breathe so far from here, I feel your touch so close and real," expressing a sense of loneliness from their beloved leaving them all alone. Then we dig deeper into the religious themes where the lead singer sings: "And I know my church is not of silver and gold, its glory lies beyond judgment of souls, the commandments are of consolation and warmth."

Here, he says, "my church is not made of silver and gold," which represents him feeling as if he doesn’t have the same qualities as the other people his beloved had been with in the past. Then he says, "its glory lies beyond judgment of souls," where he references the divine judgment of God, saying that he can't measure up to it, and it’s far from it. Then he introduces another religious theme of consolation and warmth, where he references his caring nature that he has shown toward his beloved, as it says, "consolation and warmth."

Next, we arrive at the chorus:

Using religious imagery of prayer, he shows that he still can’t measure up to others that his beloved was with in the past. "The ancient wounds" represent the deep wound that was left after his beloved's departure. "The revelation of hatred and fear" represents his mixed feelings after the event that caused their separation.

Then the chorus just repeats until it ends. You could say that this poetic song represents pathos, as all of HIM's music uses emotional language. It uses metaphors, biblical language, and repetition in his music, as all the themes involve love and suffering. It offers a relatable emotion to those who go through such things. But the reason why I love HIM's music is because of my simple love for rock music, but the use of biblical references in all their songs and personal interpretation make me want to discover what they mean when they reference these biblical themes..This amazes me and motivates me to dig deeper into their music!!
