I asked him about his hobbies, his favourite sports, what he did in his spare time and what he enjoyed doing. I found out a lot about who Curtis is and what he likes but I feel like 5 things stood out when he was talking; basketball, friends, music, Riverdale and memes.
Firstly, I added some posts about basketball. Curtis loves to play basketball but does not like watching it on TV or keeping up with the scores and the news which is why I kept the posts about what he could do and wear to improve his basketball game. I also added a basketball court near him which he could play on for free because he does not have a net at home and he can practice there.
Secondly, he mentioned a lot about hanging out with friends. He spends a lot of time hanging out with friends on the break, weekends and after school. I added a couple posts about places to hang out because they are near his house or near Zion and they are great for a large group of friends.
Thirdly, Curtis talked to me a lot about music. He said his favourite music was the popular and trending music in Toronto, and he also loves Taylor Swift. Having found that out, I incorporated a post to the top billboard 100 and Taylor's new album Lover. He also loves playing his favourite songs on guitar. I posted some new guitars and guitar picks to buy and some tutorials to the Riverdale soundtrack because it would make it easier for him to relive his favourite Riverdale scenes.
Fourthly, Curtis could not stop talking about Riverdale. He and his brother binge watched the entire series over the summer, and they loved it. I posted the show "13 Reasons Why" because Curtis is done Riverdale and needs a new show to watch on Netflix, and Riverdale is very similar to "13 Reasons Why". I also posted throwbacks and bloopers from the previous seasons and a trailer for the next one coming out in 2020 so he is even more pumped for the next season.
Fifthly, Curtis and memes are like Romeo and Juliet. Curtis's life is memes. Memes are a broad topic so for this one I focused on showing memes about Curtis's other interests to keep him engaged and want him to read more.
Lastly, I tried to weave everything together because it's more interesting to see all your hobbies at once rather than one at a time. I also tried to find new things he will like based on his interests now. I did this because if he sees something new that is not the usual ads he is exposed to and he likes it, he will be happier than just seeing the same things over and over again.
