- The children's creativity was measured by a series of tests such as trying to think of different uses of an everyday object. They were given a paper plate and had to identify what they could do with that single paper plate. 
- Scientist use an array of tests that require divergent thinking to find the best solution.
 Divergent thinking - going through as many solutions as you can to find a good solution. The usage of an object and the number of usages you can think of or the purposes.
