It is also shot in a similar to way to Edgar Wright.  It's shot using quick camera shots of a zoom in into the characters faces, with Luis doing a voiceover of all the characters.

I like the idea of using a camera technique to show emotions. The shaky camera technique suggests nervousness, anxiety or anger. It makes the audience feel physically uncomfortable and I like the idea of that. In the breakfast club, a jump cut is used in the dance scene where it cuts to different characters and a set amount of them dancing together. I think they used a jump cut to make it more like a music video for these set of scenes and can also imply time passing.

A jump cut is when one long shot is edited to skip bits out of the clip. This is often used in music videos to match tempo or in films to show passage of time. I struggled to think of a film off the top of my head but through research found a good example from little shop of horrors... (brilliant film by the way if anyone hasn't seen it)

That is a link to the clip. The jump cuts do a good job of showing how impatient the characters are feeling, you get the message even from this short clip without context.

This is because the film has a very fast pace and jump cutting helps keep this pace since it cuts out any unnecessary time which would be spent. What's interesting is to help the flow of the film, what the editor would do is jump cut mid conversation.
