This is the Ottawa civic hospital. It's where I want to land a position as an MOA or Unit Clerk after practicum. My goal is to have a job here within 12 months or less of graduating. I am lucky enough to have 4 friends that have worked at the civic for different periods of time that have agreed to be references and notify me of job openings in my field. I also have a family friend that is one of the midwives at my practicum that told me because of her close contact in the civic's obstetrics department, she could probably get me an interview to get my foot in the door.

All the savings I had ever accumulated were used to pay my bills after a difficult separation in 2020 when I had to go on medical leave from work. I want to start saving again as soon as I have a steady paycheque coming in. I will be putting 12% of every cheque away, or if I can afford more some months then I will do that. I have a TFSA for now but plan to have another account as well as I have an uncle and a family friend that will be helping me understand how to save and keep those savings which I am really looking forward to learning more effectively. I received a decent tax return this year that I have put away in my TFSA so that while I'm waiting for my first paycheque in my field and get situated, I have some money to cover the bills for the first couple months.

As I said previously, I have reached out to my uncle and a close family friend to ask they would be willing to teach me about investing and what worked for them, as they have a wealthy track record and a lot of experience in this area. They will be helping me with goals I need to achieve to be/feel ready to invest in something small by summer 2023. I also have a friend that was able to grow his business and lucked out in random investments that offered to work on an excel table for me to keep track of everything as soon as I start these financial proceedings.

Part of saving money is to be able to travel more and not worry about the lack of money coming in while I'm away. I have family all over the country and years are just going by without me being able to go out there, may it be BC, Nova Scotia etc, its very important that I am financially stable enough to see a few family members that I am definitely due to visit.

To go with the travel subject, some of the elderly in my family are not getting any younger. I promised my grandmother on my father's side that I would come see her within the year from the time I graduate. She and I have not been in the same room in almost 10 years due to a multitude of factors. I also want to be able to go see my grandparents in Montreal (mum's side) as they have moved back to Canada (Montreal to be exact) after living out of the country my entire life but due to covid, I have only seen them since they came back 2 summers ago. Another priority trip is to Vancouver to see my niece and nephew. It has been 4 years since I have been able to see them with my niece unfortunately being diagnosed, going through complications and treatment, and now being in remission from leukemia all without having my mum and I being able to visit her. My timeline to see my dad's mother is by august 2023. My timeline to see my mum's mother and her husband is by Christmas 2022 and my timeline for seeing my niece and nephew would be before Christmas 2023. I am grateful that I have a few people that offer me flying points and free stays in hotels and so I am confident I can make this all happen.

I have wanted to have a pet dog my entire life, specifically a bully breed. I have never felt stable enough financially or mentally/lifestyle wise to commit to a dog and give it the best possible life and so here I am, almost 29 with no dog. I have a 2 to 3 year plan right now where I will feel good enough (after accomplishing some of the previous goals) to finally rescue some type of american pit bull terrier breed from BulliesInNeedOntario and add that dream dog to my life. Part of why I want to travel and see some specific family members like my grandmother or even my niece and nephew out west, is to get that out of my system and make sure that when the time comes to rescue and bring home a dog, I can dedicate more time to training and meetings their needs while we adjust to being with dog/owner and not just leave for a trip 2 months after adoption. I was a pet sitter for 9 years and Pitbull we're always my favourite clients. The apartment I live in would be great as it is 3 floors and lots of space, however, I have a small fenced in yard that would not be big enough for exercise. I would have to be fully capable of giving the adequate amount of walking/running outside of the house and get a dog that does not need a big yard. One of the reasons I love this organization is their extensive application process and the fact that they match dogs with the perfect family instead of allowing people to adopt a dog based on how the dog's looks.

It will be easier to save right out of graduating because my mum will still be living with me and paying half the rent. Come summer 2023, she will be moving out and I will be keeping the apartment. To maintain my ability to save a substantial amount of my pay, I will need to rent out my old room to a mature student or working young adult. This ideally will be something I secure before she officially leaves and I will be putting out an ad a couple months prior but I will need to have this room filled within 2 months of my mum being gone to remain on track.

So, I have never gotten a driver's license in my 28 years because of past trauma from car accidents I have been a passenger in. The last accident I was a part of, the car flipped upside down into a ditch on the side of a road out in Chelsea at 3AM and it took an hour for the police and the tow truck to come get us out. This was nearly 5 years ago and I have to move on. I want to be able to drive my mum places, rent a car for a trip, drive a friend in need to the hospital or my future dog to the park. I have told myself that after I have been working a steady job in my field for a year, I will start the process of taking the course to get my learner's permit. I have been driving my mums car here and there in empty lots so I have been taught the basics and apparently I'm very good.. but I need to stop crying the minute I'm behind the wheel. The only way to face this one is through it and lots of practice/experience. I will be using part of my own savings to pay for the classes etc here in Gatineau.
