People of all genders would benefit when living in communities that promote gender equality because promoting gender equality in communities fosters inclusivity and acceptance. In communities where gender equality is valued, everyone can live without fear of discrimination, violence, or judgment for who they are.

For example, gender-diverse people often face exclusion in schools, healthcare, and workplaces. A gender-equal society ensures that these individuals are respected, their rights are protected, and their voices are heard. When all genders are given equal opportunities, it promotes mental wellbeing, safety, respect, and dignity for everyone. One downside is that all genders could be treated equally in theory but due to many cultures and beliefs, a lot of people won't accept the changes and stick to their ideologies, leaving behind a bit of discrimination.

Benefits for men:

One of the key benefits for men would be that they can freely express emotions. In today's world, men are supposed to act tough and emotionally strong. Many cultures deem them to be the strongest in the family and always 'tough it out'. With equality, men would be able to express emotions without being questioned and still be respected. Men are also supposed to be the breadwinners and face the pressure to earn money to feed the whole family. Equality helps men face less pressure and encourages women to work as well, so the earnings can be split evenly, and the pressure decreases. Men could also have more career choices as they could get jobs in women-dominated roles like teaching and childcare.

Benefits for women:

With equality, women will be accepted in more roles and jobs with equal pay to men. As currently a lot of women are being underpaid compared to men in the same role. Women will also be encouraged to be more independent and strong, as people usually view them as inferior and weak. The stereotype of women staying at home and working in the house will also be broken with more women working in different jobs. The violence rates towards women will be reduced to some degree as people develop more respect and empathy towards them.

5 Ways to reduce the gender gap:

Spread awareness on the gender gap and try to show people how it is affecting all genders and what we can do to help

Participate in campaigns trying to improve the gender gap and support their initiatives

If someone is being treated unfairly based on their gender, we should speak up and try to fight for their rights.

Encouraging everyone to try and do what they love to do, so they feel more confident doing activities which people would usually shame a specific gender for doing.

Try to promote participation at work or school from both genders to do specific tasks that are usually not done by the specific gender, causing them to earn more respect and be more comfortable.

After sexual activity, if Stevie is experiencing various symptoms she should do the following steps below:

She should immediately stop all sexual activity and inform her partner about her symptoms.

She and her partner should both go to the GP or a trusted clinic to get tested for an STI. Both of them have to be completely open about their sexual activity and STI history for optimal diagnosis

They have to take a urine test or a blood test, or whatever the doctor feels appropriate for their situation. The urine test tests for gonorrhea and chlamydia, two of the most common STIs. The blood test checks for STIs like HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis B & C, and Herpes. Sometimes they also do a swab test in which the medical professional swabs the affected area to check for an STI.

If she tests positive for an STI, she has to inform all her previous partners as well to get tested just as a precaution.

She has to then follow a medical plan designed by the health professional to treat the infection.

After the medical plan has finished, she has to get a test again to make sure she is properly treated.

For next time, she has to use proper safety measures to reduce the risk of STIs during sexual activity by using condoms and dams.

She also has to get tested around every 6 months as a precaution and take vaccinations for STIs like hepatitis if she hasn't already.

Contraception

Barrier protection, such as condoms and dams, is essential in preventing the transmission of STIs. These methods work by creating a physical barrier that blocks the exchange of bodily fluids, like semen, vaginal fluids, or blood, which can carry infections like chlamydia, gonorrhoea, HIV, and herpes. Unlike other contraceptive methods, like the pill or implant, barrier methods are the only form of contraception that protects against STIs. When used correctly and consistently, condoms are around 99% effective in preventing both pregnancy and STI transmission. They are also affordable, widely accessible, and easy to use.

The emergency contraceptive pill (ECP), also known as the “morning after pill,” is a safe and effective way to prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex, contraceptive failure, like a condom breaking, missed birth control pills, or rape. It can be easily accessed without a prescription at most pharmacies in Australia. You can also get it from GP clinics, sexual health clinics, and women’s health centres. The pill is most effective when taken as soon as possible, ideally within 24 hours, but it can still work for up to 3–5 days, depending on the type used. Acting quickly is key to making sure the pill works effectively in preventing an unwanted pregnancy.

Getting tested for STIs is a normal and important part of looking after your sexual health. STI testing involves a urine sample, swab, blood test, or physical examination, depending on the symptoms and sexual practices involved. Testing is available at GP clinics, sexual health centres (SHINE SA), youth clinics, and some online services that mail discreet test kits. It’s recommended to get tested if you’ve had unprotected sex, are starting a new relationship, notice any unusual symptoms, or every 6 to 12 months if you’re sexually active. Many people avoid testing due to embarrassment or shame, but STIs are extremely common and treatable. Having open, respectful conversations about sex helps reduce stigma and encourages people to take responsibility for their health without fear of judgment.

One thing that helps me reset is going outside for a walk. Being outdoors gives me space to breathe, clear my mind, and take a break from screens or stress. Walking helps me feel calmer and more in control, especially when I’m overwhelmed. Sometimes, I also just go and play soccer or kick the ball around my backyard. Another thing that works for me is playing video games. Gaming helps me escape for a little while and focus on something fun. It gives me a break from real-life pressure and helps me reset emotionally.

Two people I trust to debrief with are my friend and my parents. My friend listens without judging and always tries to understand how I’m feeling. Talking to him helps me feel supported. I also trust my parents because they care about me, and even if they don’t always have the answers, they help me think things through and make me feel safe.

One phrase I can use is "I need to recharge". It lets me and others know that I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed and I just need a small break to proper function again.
