It continues with her entering the pet shop after seeing the sky darken with a swarm of hostile birds. During the rest of the movie, her and her newly found friends try to survive the birds in any possible way, while protecting young children and other people as well. The movie ends with Melanie in the attic, being attacked by birds as she tries to escape. Mitch Brenner saves her, pulling her out of the attic to discover her head is bleeding from where the birds pecked her. They decided to go the the hospital, but had to maneuver around a large group of birds on the ground. Once in the car, a radio announcer states that the birds have spread to different cities.
