I believe revision is an essential part of the poetic process. It can be so hard to get rid of one line or phrase that resonated with you, but sometimes there is a better way to create prose. Adding to a poem line by line helps by succinctly creating more and more options that can replace earlier lines, or just create a better poem.

Revision is a vulnerable process because you admit to yourself that there is something you want to change about the words you craft onto the page. Even after submitting revisions I feel like I want to unsubmit and continue to revise. Revision is a gradient and it's all about that zone where you feel confident enough in your work to share, but workshop will always inspire new perspectives to incorporate ideas you've never thought of before so the revision is never truly finished.

When revising I believe what becomes the most challenging is understanding what you did wrong. When we do anything in a serious manner, we do it under the assumption that we are doing it correctly. It then becomes harder to look back and point out what we did wrong. It is even harder to understand how to improve upon something you tried your hardest on.
