Alongside this, she has experience as a registered nurse with Northwest Cancer Specialists, among other facilities.

Before starting her career, Ruth Kostur studied at the University of Northern Colorado and Gonzaga University, graduating with a BS and MS in nursing, respectively. She has also been a member of professional organizations such as the Oncology Nursing Society and the American Society of Hematology, among others.
