Whenever I see public school students, it reminds me of the first time I joined my high school's Christmas Outreach Program. While it may seem like I'm the one helping and assisting the less fortunate kids on the surface, they're the ones who actually "helped" me as they made me reflect and realize how blessed and privileged I truly am to be attending a private school with the sole goal of studying well and not having to worry about my next meal. After that experience, it definitely inspired and motivated me to join future outreach programs to be men and women-for-others.

I remember asking my mother who is a nurse on why she chose to still work despite the overwhelming risks it poses to her health. She simply answered that she enjoys and loves what she is doing. She also added that could not her back on her fellow nurses and people who are depending on her. The same goes along with my sister who continues work and go above and beyond by even doing 12 hours shifts just to assist the people around her. I believe that frontliners embodies the spirit of Magis, they have shown to me how passion, love, and care for others manifest in their jobs and how fulfilling it is to choose the more loving option.

Jesus' passion and death on the cross shows the spirit of Magis, because he sacrificed his own life, because he loved us so much. His sacrifice for the sake of love is a reminder to me that  I have to be selfless and loving towards other people in any way I can.

This will always be one of my most memorable experiences that will serve as a constant reminder to practice the spirit of magis. I met a great number of marginalized youth who have started their own social enterprises and have uplifted not just theirselves, but also their respective families. We had bonfires every night, exchanging our own personal stories and during the days, we had workshops and discussions on how might we create impact in different sectors in society through social enterprises. 

Case in point, no matter what career path or vocation we enter, we can always--to a certain degree, create change in our own small corners of the world.
