He just doesn't know right from wrong. Jim on the other hand, he would do anything just to make Edward look bad and make his life miserable. Jim thinks Edward shouldn't be apart of this society, he thinks Edward is not on the same social level as the other people and he has no right to be here. This was introduced when Jim said "... Who the hell do you think you are hanging around here, huh? Get the hell outta here!...". Jim also expressed how he doesn't think Edward is a human when Jim said "...He isn't even human!" and "Get the hell outta here! Go you freak!". Jim also showed his hostility towards Edward though his actions, when Jim broke into his own house he used Edward, and later left him for the police. Most of the scenes with Jim, the camera is aimed up towards Jim to show his power and control. In many scenes like the ones above this technic was shown. Dark, gloomy colours and lighting were also used a lot around Jim.
