In 2016, she discovered that her biological father was Bob Adelman, who had worked with her mother in 1960s.

Throughout her childhood and teenager, she suffered from MDD (Major Depressive Disorder), her diagnosis and subsequent treatment with Prozac became the foundation of her 1994 bestselling book.
