Skills and techniques are two very important things to have as you want to make self stand out to the audience in a positive way and also have these skills and technique to help you get into character. Some of these include Stamina, confidence and flexibility.

I think that it is important to have good stamina because might need to sing and dance at the same time which will defiantly require stamina as you when singing you don't want to sound out of breath because you are dancing and you also don't want to that out of breath from doing both that your movements become sloppy and unfinished.
I think that confidence is a really important thing to have as whiteout these you won't be able to fully become the character.
Flexibility is important to have as an all round actor you need to be able to adapt to different characters and different styles of songs that might have to sing and also different styles of dances that you might have to do when talking part in different musicals
