His desire was to protect Johnny and keep him safe.

The first event was when Dally killed himself. He killed himself because he loved Johnny and he saw Johnny in himself so he was really sad when he died. He felt like he let down Johnny by letting him die. ¨He was jerked half around by the impact of the bullets, then slowly crumpled with a look of grim triumph on his face¨(154). Dally´s desire was to keep Johnny safe. He felt like he let himself down.

The second event was when Dally was yelling at Ponyboy and Johnny to get out of the church. Dally was yelling at they to get out because he didn't want them to die if they got stuck in the church. He cared about them and he didn't want them to die especially because he liked Johnny. Dally´s desire was to have Johnny and Ponyboy safe. Dally was standing there, and when he saw me he screamed, ¨For Pete's sake, get outta there! That roofs gonna cave in any minute¨ (93). Dally´s desire was to have Johnny safe.He didn't want Johnny to go through what he went through in his childhood.

He had to be firm and yell at the gang to earn their respect.

Dally´s flaw is not following the law. He goes to jail a lot and is given a bad reputation for doing things wrong. He could have his life turned around and not be living in a dump. This is shown why Dally gives Ponyboy a loaded gun which is against the law. He could be taken to jail for doing something like that. “he handed us a gun and a roll of bills. The gun’s loaded” (61). If Dally had followed the law he would have been able to turn his life around.

Dally’s flaw is not following the law. He could have completely flipped his life around but because he doesn’t follow the law he sinks lower and lower. The more time Dally spends in jail the worse he gets. “Dally had spent three years on the wild side of New York and had been arrested at the age of ten” (10). Again, Dally could have turned his life around if he had stayed out of jail and followed that law.

Dally is a tiger. Dally comes to the fight not knowing what to do, but relying on instincts. Dally is a tiger because he always moving and is always protective of his cubs (gang(especially Johnny)). He is also very competitive, strong, and he is always doing something. A very adventurous person who likes to impress and get respect from girls. Nothing can stop him no matter what and is an outgoing person. He is always eager to chase and annoy people. At the rumble, Dally showed up right before it started and said ¨Don't you know a rumble ain't a rumble without me in it¨(144). Dally is a tiger because he is protective, fiesty, and adventurous.

Here were our results for the personality test. Strength of individual traits: Extraverted: 76%, Observant: 74%, Thinking: 82%, Prospecting: 93%, Assertive: 66%. I definitely understand why he is prospecting. He was looking to future to think if Johnny will turn out to be like him like he thinks or if he will be different. Thinking makes sense too because I know when Johnny was dying he was thinking and worrying if he was going to be okay. Also when the church was burning down he was thinking not for himself but for Johnny’s sake and Ponyboy’s safety too. (Event)¨For Pete's sake, get outta there! That roofs gonna cave in any minute¨ (93). Extraverted makes sense as well because the definition is being concerned with the social of physical environment. That fits Dally perfectly. He he liked fights and girls which fits with the social part. When he was chatting with Cherry at the movie theater.(Event)

The symbolism is shown through Bob's rings. For Johnny, the three rings on Bob´s finger symbolizes fear. Johnny saw these rings right after he got passed out when Bob and three others came out of a blue Mustang and jumped him. The rings show Johnny´s fear of the Socs. ¨They had caught him and one of them had a lot of rings on his hand - that's what had cut Johnny up so badly. It wasn't that they had beaten him half to death - he could take that. They had scared him¨ (33). The symbolism in this story is Bob´s rings, and the rings represent fear
