Later when Virgil gets stuck in a well he starts hallucinating... He imagine some sort of girl that tells him encouraging words like that are pretty much just " You wont die in the well, theirs always hope" as when the hallucination says " nothing is ever hopeless. I have never hallucinated but in so many damn children's books the main character hallucinates, and its always confusing. So Virgil almost dies in the well but that makes him stronger. Also the hope thingy is on page 184... So later when Valencia and the physic lady come and rescue him he is stronger and I guess not a turtle anymore. Instead he is some sort of, I dunno, bird maybe? So yea, that's the character of Virgil, and he also became best friends with everyone that saved him, I think. I cant really remember and I don't have enough strength in me to go and find the page where that happens on... This is on page 34. Virgil wants to say these thoughts to his mother, but instead, he says, “I love you.” This shows how he doesn’t have the courage to speak up.

On page 250, this quote shows that Virgil is dependent on other people to help him. Like at school, he has to have some after school tutoring to help him with his multiplication tables.

2. “I’m no warrior,” Pg. 197, this is a quote when Virgil was doubting himself. This is an example of when he was still not confident but then as the story goes on  he grows as a character.
3.”There is no hope for you Virgil Salines.” Pg. 298 this is when Kaori is saying this to Virgil because he was’t brave enough to talk to Valencia at the end.
