Mi chiamo Yael e sono uno studente di 18 anni della Kennesaw State University. Mi piace molto il calcio e guardare film. Alcuni dei miei film preferiti sono Killers of the Flower Moon, Napoleon, Dune Part Two, e Ladri di biciclette. In il futuro mi piacerebbe andare in Italia per vedere i vari siti storici e mangiare cibo delizioso. Credo che studiare l'italiano mi servirà a questo proposito perche mi permettera di parlare con gli italiani in modo naturale. Alcune cose che mi piace della cultura italiana sono l'importanza della famiglia, una societa meno dipendente dall'automobile, dove potrei andare a piedi o in bicicletta, e la ricchissima storia dell'Italia. Durante il corso ho trovato che il passato prossimo, pronomi indiretti e diretti, e l’imperfetto sono soggetti difficile de comprendere. Mi sono piaciuto apprendere alcune delle parole piu comuni usate in italiano e quelle relative alle vacanze, perché se vogliamo andare in Italia le usiamo. Parole come hotel, camera, bagno e piscina che probabilmente saranno usate nel parlare quotidiano di un turista. Mi è piaciuto molto studiare l'italiano, anche se stato il mio corso piu difficile, e spero in futuro di poter continuare a studiare.

This project allowed me to learn more about one of the most important people in Italian culture, and somebody who is not always shown in the best light especially nowadays. I really enjoyed learning about him because it turns out that all that has been said about him might not be true, additionally I was able to learn about how revolutionary his trip to the Americas was and the impact it played on the world. I was also able to practice il passato prossimo and il imperfetto because I was talking about habitual actions that Columbus participated in as well as actions he did once like predicting a solar eclipse.

Through this project I was able to learn much more about some of the important cities of Italy like Napoli, Pisa, and Milan. I learned about how the leaning Tower of Pisa is much more than just a landmark and served to establish one the fundamental truths of physics which is that all objects fall at the same speed regardless of mass. Using photos also helped me become familiar with famous landmarks of Italy like San Siro stadium. This project also had a more artistic aspect to it which helped me immerse myself in learning.

The cultural assignment was probably my favorite assignment, because of its wide range of options. Being able to watch a movie in Italian allowed me to test out my Italian skills and see how much of what I was learning I would be able to recall. It also helped to understand one of the most important films in Italian history, which also incorporated elements of Italian fashion into itself. I liked this project because it provoked critical thinking and had me thinking about why this movie was so important and impactful in Italy.

This project was a very creative one that helped me see what was relevant in the Italian market. Though I chose to do this project with furniture I also realized other products that were big in Italy like fashion. Through this assignment I saw some designs that were uniquely Italian. I also saw the craftsmanship and high-quality materials that has made Italy such a relevant country when talking about luxury goods. In this project I practiced the vocabulary I had learned in Italian 1001 and it was a good refresher for some words that I had forgotten.
