I learned common misconceptions regarding technology in schools. One of the major misconceptions is that technology can only be used for basic procedures in the classroom.
I learned about the ISTE standards which guide teachers and students through optimizing their use of technology in the classroom.
I learned the SAMR model which includes substitution, augmentation, modification, and redefinition. Substitution and augmentation include enhancing technology while modification and redefinition involve transforming learning. I learned a lot from watching this video by Ruben Puentedura.

I plan on adopting technology to enhance instruction by utilizing screencastomatic. I will use screencastomatic to create flipped classroom videos. These flipped classroom videos will be used to create an increased depth of learning. The flipped classroom videos will maximize class time which will allow me to facilitate inquiry based learning and maker space application activities.

I learned about licensing agreements. These imply that I don't own the material that I'm using but I bought the right to use it. I cannot manipulate, sell, or share it. Furthermore, I learned about the difference between hardware and software and the difference between school property and my own personal property. Some examples of school property include hardware, wifi, software, equipment, materials, etc. Some examples of my property include lesson plans, powerpoints that I create, and assessments that I create. Lastly, I learned a great deal about technological ethics in education. This worksheet was truly eye opening in realizing what is ethical, unethical, and illegal.

I learned about effective ways to communicate with stakeholders through the use of tools such as screencastomatic, screenleap, websites, zoom, remind 101, etc.
In topic 3 I created my very own class website! In this topic I was also able to interview one of my practicum teachers. I inquired about his use of Edmodo. I was able to learn a lot about the way he effectively communicated with his class.

In topic 4 I learned about enhancing instruction through the use of technology. In this topic I learned that I can use a flipped classroom in order to maximize class time to increase the depth of learning. I have attached my particular flipped video below. In addition to the flipped video, I learned what some schools are using to enhance their instruction. We traveled to an academy in Chandler were students were using Z-space technology. I learned that they redefining the way they learn. Students can actually visualize and nearly touch and move things that they couldn't otherwise tough or move through the use of a stylus and virtual reality. It was incredible! I felt as though this environment inspired a spirit of inquiry-based, student-centered learning. This is the style of learning that I want to take place in my future classroom.

In topic 5 I learned about differentiation. I learned that not all students are going to arrive where you want them to through the same learning methods. I learned that differentiation is the modification of instruction to meet the needs of all students. Differentiation includes the modification of process, content, and product. In this topic I created a maker space activity. (shown below) I challenged my hypothetical students to create a video representing what they learned from the flipped classroom experience. I gave them guidelines of representing particular steps but other than that I gave them free range to creatively express what they learned.

In topic 6 I learned about different assessment tools such as socrative, plickers, kahoot, todaysmeet, etc. I learned a lot about assessing in Arizona. I learned that we are looking to use alternative assessments such as ACT, Cambridge, and the PSAT. However, because we are doing this, comparing our students to other students in the nation is like comparing apples and oranges. One thing I took away from this topic is this particular quote I came across from one of our readings. "Separate logistical guidelines from academic learning targets. (If you tell your students you will be assessing their understanding of a particular concept then actually assess their knowledge of the content rather than how they format the paper.)"
