Steve Jobs talks about managing people.

I thought this was interesting because it shows how involved Steve Jobs was in literally every aspect of Apple. I liked his comment about having "wonderful arguments" and admitting he didn't win all of them. It showed a different side of a leader who is known for being difficult to get along with. Despite that, his team felt comfortable disagreeing with him and working with him to achieve the team's goals.

This article touches on how Jobs left Apple, then came back later and turned around the decline that happened during his absence. I think it's rare to see that happen. Usually when a CEO leaves, they move on and don't return. To me, this demonstrates how much Apple and Jobs are intertwined and made me curious about how things are going at Apple now a few years after his death.

I agree with this article. If the manager is engaged, the employees will perform better. Also good point about reward programs and the burn out factor. It's discouraging when you get a reward for something one year and then nothing the next year. My husband's company did a fantastic holiday party in 2015 but nothing at all in 2016 and everyone was really bummed out. Consistency is important.

The text mentioned the trend of outsourcing some technical jobs to overseas workers. I have mixed feelings about this. It's great that it helps the people in other countries attain a better standard of living, but it also harms people in our country by reducing the number of jobs available. This article discusses how the trend may actually reverse due to political changes and resulting policy changes since the election in 2016.

We all have to make multiple decisions each day at our jobs. While some can be made easily and without a great deal of thought, other decisions require more complex analysis. These tips include weighing the consequences, contemplating interpersonal issues and weighing alternatives. This is something I deal with during the home buying and home selling process with my customers. When presenting an issue to my customer, I have to think about how each side of the transaction may react and what consequences there are. I have to think about all the possible alternatives and be able to give pros and cons of each. By thinking the problem through before discussing with my customer I am able to provide the information they need to make the best decision for their situation in a way that is not overwhelming to them.
