I have all my DVDs stored in folders rather than than the original cases so that they take up less room, but I have so many that I have multiple folders. Most of the time I have to look through all folders to find a single DVD.
The columns I could have could be:
- DVD title
- Folder
- Sleeve number (within the folder)
- Genre 
- Length of Movie
- Part of a Series (yes or no)
- Comments (about movie)

I'd start with the music one for my records, cds, digital files. Columns would be ID number (PK), title, artist, genre, year, label, type (CD, LP, mp3 etc), value, location ie which crate, (i'd have to number them), or PC folder it is in. I'd even put a picture of the cover. This is also a great idea for insurance.
