The Hendra Virus is an emerging disease that horses catch from bats. The people that have had close contact with infected horses are at risk of becoming infected.

Queensland, Australia.

Who was first at risk and died...

One of the first people that died from the Hendra Virus was Queensland horse trainer Mr Vic Rail, his stablehand, and most of his horses fell ill to the Hendra Virus. Within several days, Mr Rail and 14 horses were unfortunately dead.

It has even been found that a male kelpie dog was infected by the Hendra Virus. The kelpie dog was around horses with the disease and caught it. Unforunatly the dog had to be put down.

What should I do if my horse has the Hendra Virus..

If you notice symptoms of Hendra virus on a horse, keep everyone away from the horse and call your private veterinarian immediately.
