My ideal vision for learning without the bounds of the grammar of schooling. I imagine an outdoor, all weather, experiential learning space where learning is a lifelong endeavor. Discrete subjects do not exist as they all coexist within one another(Postman & Weingartner, Ch 5, 18). All learning is self led and self motivated, students learn from one another, from mentors that are older or younger, experimenting, and experiencing. Every learner is a participant, contributor, and steward of knowledge. When students want more structure they can turn to question based learning. Learners can create question circles where they engage in dialogue based discussion (Postman & Weingartner, Ch 5, 2). If they feel stuck on a question they can ask the question box for guidance. The question box does not provide any answers but guides can guide the discussion toward an answer through additional questions (Postman & Weingartner, Ch 5, 1-2). Students can engage with the sciences through their environment, there are gardens, farms, gardens, and trees all around them to explore and participate in discovery. Art, music, and expression thrive as integral aspects of learning. Creative projects are woven into the fabric of exploration, providing avenues for learners to express and communicate their ideas or wonderings.

Learners can come to communal outdoor discovery spaces once students are old enough to learn how to share and are potty trained, there is no age cap on when learners stop coming and the expectation is that learning becomes a lifelong pursuit that allows students to work through problems or crises, adapting to various life stages and transitions (Kumashiro, 44). Because they are engaged and passionate about the learning they can come back for the rest of their lives although the frequency may change. They are open year round and there is no set schedule as long as young learners come. The absence of an age cap ensures that learning remains an ongoing pursuit, adapting to different life stages. The learning space operates without rigid schedules, allowing learners to engage when their interests and schedules align. This flexibility fosters a sense of autonomy, reinforcing the idea that learning is a natural part of life.

Play is a major component of my learning spaces, learners of all ages are encouraged to foster their own sense of play and create joy in activities of their choosing. For young learners this may look like running, jumping, pretend play and for older learners this may look like organized sports, playing with animals, music or anything of their choice (Postman & Weingartner, Ch 5, 6).
