Some of the similarities among the holidays that I see have to do with light and candles St. Lucy celebrations include a crown of candles, candles are lit on the Menorah during Hanukkah, and there are also lights used on Christmas (whether through actual lights or candles in church). Many of these celebrations also have to do with the gift of receiving and giving, such as Christmas, Hanukkah, and St. Nicholas day.

The main similarity is that they all involve gift giving. The dangerous Lucy is kind of similar to St. Nick's helper who would punish the bad children in certain European countries, specifically Germany I think. They all involve light, too, and the Minora is kind of similar to an Advent Wreath.
