The work in the collage is important because it shows how much I have grown as an artist. I have learned through my smart goals and improved my artistic ability. My smart goal at the start of the year was to work on my shading and I have improved my shading a lot more since then.

What I learned and practiced about line weight, contour, cross contour, and observational drawing were how effective line weight really was.

What I learned from watching and understanding Heather Hansen's work was how art can really be anything and you can use your imagination. Then, we scribbled in class using markers, crayons, colored pencils, or chalk. Then, we used sidewalk chalk outside. What I did was sit down and use two chalk sticks What I learned about artistic thinking was if you are intentional it can look really cool.

Q1: Still Life Compostion

We learned that a still life is a realistic drawing. Techniques for still life composition included using different pencils for line weight. The item I brought was my grandmother's rosary because it is special to me. My planning was focused mainly on my object and included a lipgloss and a bracelet.

Line Weight

I chose to create an image of a tree in a park that shows how I learned to use line weight to show how the tree is up close. This was my first major art project of Art 1. Critique and rubric results showed my strong areas were attention to detail and my areas to grow were techniques, I revised my work by adding more line weight.

Still Life

My object was my grandmother's rosary. Techniques I applied were shading because I wanted to give my artwork a more defined look. What I learned from this project was how to make things appear darker. Critique and Rubric feedback results showed my strong areas were shading and my areas to grow were to work on my darkness levels. I revised my work by making everything darker.

Q1 Reflection

I have learned a lot of new techniques and I love how this class is going so far. I have improved my shading drastically and also my line weight has made my drawings much more realistic. My goals for next quarter would be to improve my darker values even more.
