Work Philosophy

ASHLEY TABALNO
PO Box 1771 Aiea, Hawaii 96701
Phone 808.954.0541 Email atabalno@hawaii.edu

WORK PHILOSOPHY

The following is my work philosophy based on Hawaiian values and my school and work experiences:

Pono- Honesty
We must continue to be trustworthy and ensure there’s honor in what we say and do. Being honest doesn’t only mean telling the truth. It also means doing the right thing when there isn’t anyone watching. I can recall a few situations that put my integrity to the test. On one occasion, I found someone's cell phone sitting on the counter at the bank teller. I gave it to the teller to give back to its owner in case he or she returned for it. On another occasion, my employer asked me to purchase a few items from the store and gave me the money to make the purchase. After making the purchase, there was money left over which I promptly returned.

Kokua- Help or Cooperate
In order to be successful as a team, we must always help each other and cooperate knowing we all want to achieve the same end goal. I know there have been a few times where I have disagreed with a choice or course of action that was taken by a group that I was a part of. Although I disagreed, I compromised and cooperated with the rest of the group.

e mālama pono- To take care of or care for
Everyone wants someone on their team who is going to take care of each other and their responsibilities. It’s important that everyone can count on each other to do what is necessary to achieve a desired outcome. I know that when I go to work, I am trusted to take care of certain responsibilities. I complete my daily tasks and I know that at the end of the day, I have contributed to the company's success.
