When i was 5 years old i went to olcott park in bloomington indiana. This was in december so there was lots of snow. Me and my day made a igloo by pressing snow in a box to make bricks. In the igloo we made there was a door, chimney, campfire and table. We liked it so much we decided to go home an grab sleeping bags so we could spend the night. Unfortunetly we didnt do a good enough job of building the walls and at 4 in the morning it fell on us waking us up.

I think it is important for communities to have parks because it provides a third space for a community and "provides openness that you can't get in a building." A park also provides an opportunity to get outside and exercise which most people don't do anymore. Parks also provide good scenery that "should compliment the city as much as possible." They also provide a sense of unity for that visit or are involved. They provide a sense of unity because they are free and you get to experience nature and not have to worry about how much it'll cost.

I was there with my sister one night and the playground was closed off since it was quiet hours, but we hid together on the slide from the patrol people on golf carts. We ended up getting away with it, but we don't hide anymore.

I think parks have a big meaning to me at this age. Parks are an escape from me being in my house all day. I can benefit from them not only hanging out with friends or playing sports but also just from doing something new. I think every park has something new to do. Another thing I can benefit from a park is it can be a new place to think and come up with new ideas because there is no distractions.

In my opinion, I think that Columbus is one of the best areas for a mixture of green spaces and parks as well as regular city life. We have easy access to places like Lincoln Park, Millrace, Donner, and many more as well. Places like the people trail also allow for Columbus to be somewhere that is more walk-able, instead of just with sidewalks by the side of a road. We have the ability to take leisure in our transit, and aren't forced to just deal with normal city walking. Columbus is most certainly one of the greener cities in the state, and it is obvious with the ease of going to your nearest park.

I remember when I was younger maybe about 6th grade, I would go to parkside with someone who was like my sister. We would sit under the playground where there were little walls and a small circle exit. It was always really peaceful, even though there were kids running around and on top of the playground we were under, it was like they were tuned out because it was just us. We would sit under there and talk for I don't know how long and I don't know even remember what about until my mom would text saying we had to go home. We sat below the playground so long in that little square that when we stood up our legs had pins and needles. There were a lot of memories I have at Parkside with people that were good, but that was just one of my favorites.

This park is special to me because I used to go there a lot for birthday parties, chilling with childhood friends, and to spend time with my parents. It is also the most fun park in my opinion because of the big rock you can climb. I have a lot of memories of me and my friends climbing that rock and then jumping down.

I always played with my brothers at the parks. It also helps build my brother's and my connections with each other. Going to parks helps me get away from school and home. Hearing birds chirping and the wind really helps when I don't feel well. I like day dreaming at the parks too. It's pretty peaceful.

I do we live in Indiana where we have a lot of green space, but not enough appreciation. We have a lot of forests and parks. The stability of some of this is not as stable as it should be. People who own forests can cut them down and sue trespassers. I get this for hunters and stuff, but I think these things should mostly not be owned by one person. They can one day wake up and say
"I am going to turn this forest into a grape farm with horrible infant watering methods with the on going water shortages.

On one particular occasion, it was my birthday, and my mom had invited all of our family members to join us. We had a cookout where we cooked delicious carne asada, tacos, papas fritas, and sausage. Afterward, we gathered around the cake to sing happy birthday. However, when we were about to start passing out the cake, my brother took a piece and smashed it into my face. I retaliated by grabbing another piece and returning the favor. This led to a fun cake fight between us, and by the time we were done, everyone was covered in cake.

Personally I don't have a favorite park. i just go to what fits best of what i want to do in a park. If i want to have fun on a playground or something i go to Donner but if i just want to walk around and have a good time i go to millrace. It's not about having favorites its about the memories at the parks that are more important to me.

My favorite park in Columbus is the playground at CSA Lincoln. Throughout my elementary school career, I spent many days playing on that playground. My friends and I had a game that we played almost every day called "green line tag," which involved the big rope climber in the middle of the playground. We also loved to roll down the turf-grass hills. I fondly remember the games of tag, the handstand competitions, and the gaga ball tournaments we spent on that playground.
-Hannah Byers

To me, parks are a good place to relax or play with my two brothers. Sometimes I'll sit by the small park at the oil can church. I very rarely will read there, soetimes I'll run over there and take a long break. It's very pretty and relaxing, even though the park is dirty and infested with weeds, the trees are very pretty. I love it a lot, its very calm because noone ever really goes there except maybe a few kids that live in the area. But yea, it's definitely my favorite park. :)

I Have not been to many in this community but when I lived in Fishers there was one that I would always love going to. There was always an icee truck parked nearby and a bridge that crossed over a creek. Then after the bridge there was a huge 3 story playground with branching paths. There was also trails in woods nearby and just generally an amazing place.

When I was about the age of 5 and 6 me and my dad had a routine to go to mill race every weekend as a way to be with eachother but also enjoy the nature, my favorite part is getting to walk over the bridges that he called "the monkey bridge." My next favorite thing that I did was doing the monkey bars, my dad loved videoing my growth with them and getting to be with me through those joys. We would also always start the day with breakfast at hardees for the biscuits and gravy. I so deeply remember all of those memories everytime I get into his truck, because our bond is definitely worth so much. The best part is that recently I talked him through and asked him if he would like to redo what we used to do, and have a day together, and gladly he said of course. So that saturday I crawled out of bed and got myself ready and believe it or not my dad was there waiting for me in his truck and it felt like I was a little girl again. When I got in his truck we talked about how nice it was to get time together since the two of us never have time to go places that much anymore. And after that I appeared in the hardees door and the smell and visual appearance of the inside all came back to me. After that we of course went to mill race and went over the "monkey bridge" and looked at the rivers, and had some good conversations as we were enjoying the peace of nature as well as eachothers company. And suddenly I felt 6 again having the time of my life with my father.

I think it's important because it's important to have places to refresh yourself or have a good time. if communities don't have this access if feel like they will be dull and bland not knowing what it feels like to have that escape to nature and fun right in front of you. To live in a community where I have this access is refreshing in its idea and glorifying.

Although it's not technically a park, I would say Camp Gallahue in Brown County certainly made a lot of memories for me. The camp was very big and spread out, with locations connected by gravel roads and dirt footpaths. Most of the campsites had scouts sleeping outside in platform tents, that have a wooden platform as a base with a tarp acting as a roof. If a night got too cold or a storm too fierce we would take mattresses off the rusty metal cot and take it down to the unit house, a building usually in the center of a campsite where things like gas stoves, microwaves, and other important things were held. It was also where the scouts met for group activities.

When I was a young kid when I went to my buddies house near Scipio when I was 9 It was near the end of school About 80 degrees outside and I could smell the freedom In the air when we would run.We went to the Scipio park after school on a bright sunny day we ran all the way there. When we got to the park we all was drenched in sweat. It was running down our face.Dripping off of our nose. We went and swung on the swings till it got boring and then we went and all played basketball. we went to the water fountain and got a drink. It felt like the best thing ever because it was cold and my throat was super dry and it felt like a dip in the pool on a hot day
