We chose the blog “The Double-Edged Sword: Social Media’s Impact on Cebu’s Local Businesses.” I chose this one because it talks about social media and business all around Cebu. I use social media every day so it feels connected to me. I also notice how shops post online to get people to come and visit so I wanted to write about it. It also attracts more customers The blog showed the good side of it. Social media makes it easier for shops to be noticed and exposed to a bigger variety of audiences and people. Coffee shops in IT Park get many customers because of posts and reels. Even shops far like in Talisay or down south get people to visit when the post looks good. I saw classmates who traveled just because of one shop they saw on TikTok. That is how strong it can be. The blog also showed the problems and weaknesses. Owners need to post a lot, reply, and think of new content all the time. That looks tiring. Consistency is also a key in this business and marketing. Competition is high because many shops are doing the same thing as the others. If the algorithm changes, fewer people see the posts. Cancel culture also makes it risky because one mistake can spread fast. For me, social media is helpful but stressful. We should know how to use it the right way and learn it properly. It helps businesses grow, but it can also pull them down. As a student, I already feel the pressure of using social media while in school, so I understand how owners might feel worse. If I have a business one day, I will still use it, but I will be careful. Even a like or share already helps small shops in Cebu.

The main skill I developed is digital collaboration. I can now work with others in real time, organize tasks, and keep files safe in the cloud. I also improved my communication skills because these tools require clear updates and instructions for the group. Another skill I gained is time management. Using apps that track tasks and deadlines helps me stay focused and finish work on schedule. I can use these skills in many real-life situations. For school projects, I can help my team stay on track and avoid losing files. In future jobs or business activities, I can use the same tools to keep everyone informed, share important updates, and make sure projects are finished on time. These skills are useful in any workplace because they save time, reduce mistakes, and keep work organized.

Overall, I have learned that technology is more than just social media or entertainment. When used well, it can improve productivity, communication, and teamwork. These lessons will help me now and in any career I choose later on.
