         <description><![CDATA[<p>The Shah Mosque was built in the 1600s in Isfahan, Iran, during the Safavid Empire. Architect Ali Akbar Isfahani began constructing the mosque in 1611 A.D. The mosque is known for its beautiful tilework. The mosque includes domes, the color turquoise, and muquarnas to form a four-iwan mosque. The walls are also covered in calligraphy. After Iran's Islamic Revolution in 1979, the name was changed to Imam Mosque. It is extremely famous and well-known.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Islam began in the 7th century in Mecca with the Prophet Muhammad, who is considered the final messenger of God. The country became Muslim when Muhammad died. When he died, his followers, Muslims, expanded the religion through trade, military, etc. The religion quickly spread across the Middle East and beyond, forming a rich cultural and spiritual tradition based on the Qur’an and the teachings of Muhammad. Meaning, it became practiced in Iran through this spreading.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ol><li><p>Ashura and Muharram Ceremonies- during the first ten days of the Islamic month of Muharram--culminating in Ashura--the mosque becomes a focal point for solemn religious gatherings. These include processions, recitations, poetry, and ritual mourning (taʿziyeh) marking the martyrdom of Imam Husayn and reinforcing themes of sacrifice and justice</p></li><li><p>Ramadan Observances- throughout Ramadan, the mosque hosts nightly Tarawih prayers, Qur’an recitations, and charitable rituals. Worshippers gather for community prayers and reflection in its expansive courtyard and prayer halls</p></li><li><p>Nowruz (Persian New Year) Celebrations- While the Shah Mosque itself isn’t the centerpiece of Nowruz festivities, which primarily unfold in public squares, gardens, and streets, the surrounding Naqsh-e Jahan Square becomes animated with performances. Events include Naqqali storytelling and traditinal theatre like Amoo Nowruz, often accompanied by musical acts, and festive fairs. The mosque stands as a backdrop to these cultural expressions during spring</p></li></ol>]]></description>
