The story of Danae revolves around destiny and death. This relates to Antigone's life because her Father cursed her family by marrying his mother, so Antigone's destiny was out of her control because of the destiny bestowed upon her family by her father.

Antigone is being sealed up in a stone prison for not following Creon's rules just like King Lycurgus is being put in stone for not worshiping the Gods. Creon is portrayed as too prideful, as was King Lycurgus. In the ode King Lycurgus punished for being too prideful which could be a foreshadowing of how Creon will have a similar fate as Antigone.

The story of King Phineus relates to Creon and Antigone as King P. allows his wife to blind his children from his previous marriage. This speaks metaphorically to Creon's blindness, as he is unable to see the error of his ways. King P's previous wife, whom he encages, is similar to Antigone, as both are imprisoned against their will, regardless of their status or their actions.

Danae's story relates to Antigone because their situations are very similar; both Antigone and Danae are of royal descent, and both are being locked away. Danae's story also relates back to Oedipus by mentioning destiny and fate. Oedipus was destined to kill his father like how Danae's child was destined to kill their grandfather.
