1st assignment - distinction

Improvements - make sure to proof read future assignments to make sure I cover all the things I say I will talk about in my assignment. This goes for all assignments that I will do.

I could also add subheadings to make it clearer for the people reading what I am talking about. It will also make it appear more professional. Again, this can be for all future assignments

Here I shadow a physio for a few hours on a Monday morning and watch how they treat different patients. I also help to do the initial assessment on new patients to help diagnose how they can help. She also talks me through the the treatment she thinks they would require and how she would then do this.

What I enjoy

The part I enjoy most about my work experience is the first initial assessment where you try to figure out what the problem is and how they can help. I find it interesting the way she asks questions and then does some hands on work to fully understand the problem. I also then enjoy to see the progress they make within the next weeks and slowly watching them become better and getting back to full fitness hopefully.

I have now done about 30 hours of my work experience and am still loving it. It has helped me to understand that I definitely want a career in physiotherapy. Whilst at the clinic, I am learning how to do initial assessments on clients and how to assess the patient.

I am now looking at finding a care home to go do some extra hours in as when applying to uni, the look mostly for you showing how you care for others and show signs of empathy.

I have now also put my name down for 2 open evenings for uni (Huddersfield and Sheffield Hallam) Having this work experience so soon will help me to stand out from others because I am adamant that I want to become a physiotherapist. The person who I am shadowing is also helping me through the uni process too and is offering me advice.

Fire Service - fire fighters spoke about their roles and showed us the equipment they use. Then we took part in some activities which helped to show the demand of what it takes to become a firefighter. It helped to build resilience.

Boogie bounce - the girls came together and did a session of boogie bounce as a group. This is because it was something none of us had done before
