The battle of signal hill was the last battle fought in the seven years war. the British under Lieutenant Colonel William Amherst forced the French to surrender St. John's witch later they had seized earlier that year in a surprise attack.

Lieutenant-general in the French army. He had forced the English to surrender on Aug. 14 1756. He captured Fort Henry after a six day siege on Aug. 9 1757. He had a army of 3,700 men. During the French and Indian war his army held strong repelling the British and securing France for the victory of the war. He went back to Quebec after the war to prepare them for a upcoming war. During the war he was badly injured and died the next morning.

Fort Duquesne was established by the French in April of 1754. Fort Duquesne was important because it controlled the Ohio country for both settlement and trade. Fort Duquesne also served as a base of operations for French-sponsored Indian attacks on the Pennsylvania and Virginia frontier. In 1758 the British destroyed Fort Duquesne and it was replaced by Fort Pitt.
