  The matter is attributed to various factors. One of the biggest reasons behind the decline in students enrolling in science courses is the lack of quality education in scientific subjects at the primary and secondary level in some undeveloped countries. To be more specific, because of the poor quality teaching and few resources, most students don’t have the opportunity to engage in scientific disciplines which leads to the lack of necessary skills and knowledge required for the challenging university-level courses. Another factor is the attitudes surrounding scientific subjects. Science is often underrated for some people and considered unnecessary or secondary to other subjects. Also with the influence of social media, more and more people misrepresent it as uninteresting and portray scientists as “ nerd “.

  Having a low enrollment rate in scientific subjects at universities can have devastating impacts on society. Firstly, the science field cannot develop because it cannot employ highly qualified employees. To the best of my knowledge. Scientific research is the cornerstone of progress and human development. Therefore, if more and more people do not enroll in this field, talents will be reduced which science and technical advancements cannot be done. Furthermore, tackling societal challenges is critical and requires experts in the field to create innovative solutions. The lack of scientific curiosity can also lead to a lack of trust in science as a means of understanding and addressing global issues.

  In conclusion, factoring in the above mentioned reasons, we must see a change in perspectives and attitudes towards science subjects.

Science subjects like physics, chemistry, biology, etc are incredibly difficult and require great talent and passion to reach an expert’s understanding. Furthermore, even if you are an expert in your field, you might not get hired at all or receive a low paying job for all of your efforts. And as inflation grows, many people just can’t risk their livelihood and instead choose a more stable and more promising career. More and more young people are opting for subjects related to business or economy as those fields have much more high paying jobs.

The effects of the shortage of scientists are apparent. Without great minds to further the development of humanity, our problems today would grow and fester in the future. Our technological developments are crucial to our lives as well. Without innovation, our progress as a society would stale. With fewer scientists, critical parts of society would not have enough man power to function properly. The pharmaceutical, engineering, medical industries would not be able to keep up with the demands and other services such as weather forecasts, crop fertilizers, etc would not be widely available anymore. 

In conclusion, scientists are a crucial part of society, they are indispensable to the developments of humanity as a whole and without them, our standard of living would fall dramatically.

In this modern and advanced society where most people have the opportunity to study at university, only a small percentage of students choose science subjects at university in several countries. With the decreasing number of students studying science related subjects, society will be affected negatively.

There are many reasons why not a lot of students choose science subjects such as physics and engineering as a major in university. One of which is because those subjects are very difficult to understand and it can take a long time for an average student to comprehend and excel in one. For example, students that picked engineering as their major will have to study longer to have a degree. Another reason why other subjects are more popular amongst students than science subjects is because when they graduate jobs in other fields are much more high-paying than science related jobs.

So how would this lack of human labor affect our society? There are many problems in the world that needs brilliant minds in a specific field to solve. Many problems needs to be solved with inventions and breakthroughs in the science field and without people that has a deep understanding in them, society will be developing at a much slower rate. For example without the breakthroughs in vaccines, millions of people wouldn’t have been saved from Covid-19 in 2022. Another drawback that lack of experts in scientific fields brings is that the science field itself cannot develop and the reason for that is because highly skilled and qualified employees are not at hand. Which causes the development of science to slow down and therefore causes the development of our society to slow down as well.

In conclusion, without students choosing science subjects at school, the developments of modern science will be slowed down and significantly effect our society’s innovating speed as well.

University science subjects such as chemistry, astronomy, and biochemistry require students’ intelligence and diligence. Students sometimes have to participate in experiments, which are extremely difficult. They require the ability to apply knowledge, leading to students choosing less difficult subjects like art or architecture. Besides that, there is a fact that graduating from the science field does not have many opportunities to find a well-paid job, which makes students choose other majors that can find a high-paid job.

Firstly, with the trend in universities of not studying science subjects, the science field could not employ highly qualified employees, leading to an inability to develop in the future. Also, as long as this trend still exists, there will be more people who lack inventions and breakthroughs, which is an important part of developing society and the world. And since the general public could not understand science in detail, they won’t appreciate the contribution of science to social development and human life.

 In conclusion, this problem has many reasons and effects, so the government needs to cooperate with schools and family, encouraging children to study science subjects so that society and the world will be developed.

Finding a jobs related to science such as physicians or chemists is much more difficult than business jobs. Business jobs also usually offer a higher payment than scientific jobs, so more and more students choose to become businessmen rather than scientists.
 
 

On the other hand, it is precisely because the number of students pursuing science subjects is decreasing that many problems are created. First, there may be lack of inventions and breakthroughs that can help develop the society. As we know, the world is developing, science and technology play an important role in the development of society, so it is essential that more inventions and breakthroughs need to be invented to help improve the society. If this trend keeps going, there will be a lot of bad effects on the science fields. They cannot employ well-qualified employees anymore, result in a shortage in the number of personnel as well as the quality of personnel. Moreover, general public may not understand science in detail, leads to a lack of appreciation from the public, reducing the importance of science and its contributions.

First to mention, this is delaying the speed and level of advances and breakthrough in the field of Mathematical, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Those are important and basic science field, with an important role in keeping the country flourish in all aspects of life. We also have to acknowledge the fact that this is also causing “brain drain”, highly-intelligent people who are interested in science will settle in other countries in pursuit of their dream. Science in their own countries will keep develop slower, and lack of important findings makes the general public appreciate science less as time passes.

To recap, science community today is facing an extremely difficult situation, where it has lost students’ passion; therefore, it leads to potential effects which are sure to change our life negatively. Measures need to be taken by the authority to keep this crucial field thriving.

So if the number of students studying science dropped, this would lead to the lack of technological inventions and breakthroughs that can help develop society. Additionally, while a large number of students are opting for majors in economics and business, there aren't many positions in science fields. It can result in a scarcity of skilled workers in the science and technology sector, which is crucial for the development of any country. Consequently, the science field may unable to develop because it cannot employ highly qualified employees.

Besides, without sufficient scientists, science in general can not be openly promote, which leads to the public underestimate science great contribution to our society. 

    To sum up, the flounder of science students can be accounted for the subject’s overwhelming difficulty along with more attractive opportunities in other jobs, and this trend can result in the lack of science breakthrough, in addition with the general public making little to no acknowledgement to the benefactions of science to our life.

As a result, fewer scientific inventions appeared and human life is less developed. Second, when science is not researched in detail, people tend to take the benefits of science for granted. This is not worthy of the revolutionary advancements brought by science and the countless efforts of those who created it.

In short, fewer and fewer students choose science because it is a very difficult and rigid discipline. This causes retardation of social life and reduces the value of science
