I am Miss Autumn, and I am so excited to begin this educational journey with you. I have been teaching for 5 years now and am currently working towards my Bachelors in Early Childhood Education. When I am not in the classroom, I spend my spare time with friends and family, reading, baking, gardening and doing puzzles. I truly enjoy educating the minds of early learners and love it most when they have an Aha! moment during critical lessons and breakthrough the learning challenge to find themselves fully understanding the concept being taught. Seeing children learn and grow through guided teacher experiences and free choice and play is the best part of my job. I believe children learn best through freedom of choice and play during center-based learning time; providing them the opportunity to develop key skills, problem solve and work socially with peers. I have found through my years of working with children that the ability to choose promotes self-confidence and aids in maintaining interest during learning. I utilize conscious discipline in the classroom setting, modeling behavior and problem solving which provides children the opportunity to understand their emotions and self-regulate over time. I find one of my key strengths to be open and frequent communication with families and caregivers through providing updated monthly curriculum and a working monthly calendar both here and sent home. I encourage parents and caregivers to set up times to speak or meet should concerns arise academically or otherwise. In addition to open communication with parents and caregivers, I welcome volunteers into the classroom when interest and availability allows.
