  • First baseman C. Arnold “Chick” Gandil and Joseph “Sport” Sullivan to discuss if other white sox players would join to throw the game for a sum of $100,000
  •  Gandil and his conspirators may have hatched many other deals with other syndicates.
  • Bookies had the White Sox winning with odds 3 to 1 
  • These odds changed fast once many high stakes gamblers started beating loads of money on the Reds.
  • People started to believe that many White soxs players were involved in a pocket of gamblers.
  • When a hand full of White Soxs players met up with Abe Attell, who was a former boxing world champion, he claimed to work with Rothstein the main gambler.
  • During this meeting White Sox players asked for their money but went unpaid when the didn't get there money that was promised
  • All players involved in the scandal were found innocent but banned from baseball for the rest of their lives.

  • The first game of the series started October 1st 
  • White Sox pitcher Eddie Cicotte took the mound and with his second pitch hit Morrie Rath  the Reds lead off batter.
  • Later in the game Cicotte gave up a series of hits to the Reds this broke the 1-1 tie.
  • Cicotte would go on to be replaced by a relief pitcher, but the game was already lost

  • The second game of the series starting pitcher Claude "Lefty" Williams.
  • Williams pitched well until he gave up 3 walks and 3 runs in the 4th inning.
  • Williams after this continued to pitch very well.
  • But with a lack of hitting from his team especially Gandil they lost.

  • Kerr was not in the fix thus causing the White Sox to go on and win the Game.

  • Again Cicotte started pitcher for the 4th game of the series.
  • For the first four innings the pitching for both sides was perfect.
  • In the beginning of the  5th inning Cicotte threw over the first baseman for a two run error. 
  • Cicotte later let in two runs to finish the game.
  • Final Score Reds 2 White Soxs 0
  • After this game "Sport" Sullivan came through with the players $20,000 that was split between them.

  • At first the gamed was delayed by rain for one day.
  • Once the game got started Williams and the Reds pitcher Hod Eller pitched outstanding .
  • Eller hit the ball between Felsch and Jackson. Felsch threw the ball off line allowing the Reds pitcher to get on third base.
  • Reds lead batter then hit a single scoring Eller.
  • Cicotte then went on to let in 2 more runs.
  • Final Score Reds 3 White Soxs 0

  • Kerr let up 4 runs early on to the Reds but the White Soxs came back thanks to Reds errors in the infield.
