Try to relax; remember it is out of your hands. Just finish what you can, often taking bits of time to have them review classroom policy (which tends to drain from their brains in a larger class).

Most of us typically work on 9"x12" sheets. I've found that reducing the work surface to half that 6"x9" tends to pull the students' focus into a smaller area, and they are less likely to interact with others without being prompted to. No data to prove this, just a personal observation of an experiment.

You could make some tables the drawing tables, a painting/ printing table, a clay table, the computer/ book area, a collage table, a weaving table. Then rotate the students as a groups through out the semester. I had 36 in one room and the 6 tables worked this way. You could also use a bucket filled with water and use towels, to make hand washing faster. The groups could have names they choose, like the Picasso's.
