The problem of Graffiti in Perth is believed to be on the mend due to technological advancements including CCTV footage. However, the need for a fair to fund Street Art projects across Perth is needed now more than ever as Graffiti still continues to chalk up huge sums of money to be removed. This was seen in the City of Swan in 2015, where a public sports facility required $100,000 worth of Graffiti removals. 

Lower socio-economic areas, particularly those in Perth's south are where Graffiti is heavily linked to crime. New York is the heaviest influence of Street Art practices all over the world, and this is because of their sustainable measures they take to protect and prolong the existence of the art.

 Longer lasting Street Art uses a weather shield to be protected by the elements, which is applied to the art yearly. This has been proved effective in Mexico City and New York where some murals have lasted 30 years and look untouched!
 We aim to bring this lasting effect to the Street Art our artists will create, and they will also be using environmentally friendly paint. This means the paint will release less chemicals into our fragile water ways in Perth, and less toxins will be released into the environment. 

Much research has gone into how to how to promote social sustainability - that is ensuring people do not graffiti over our Artist's creations. Creating three-dimensional art has proved successful in New York. This involves using objects that sit off the wall, for example two men may be engage in a tug-of-war and the rope in the middle of the mean may be glued onto the wall. This method, and making the art beautiful and meaningful to look at, will decrease the chances of the art being vandalised, as well as raising awareness through this event.

Another way we wish to ensure our sustainable event is through predominantly online advertising of it rather than on paper. Northbridge is also minutes away from Perth Train and Bus station making it easily accessible for people from both north and south of Perth.

If successful this project will attract the attention of some of Perth’s brightest street artists such as:
Stormie Mills- A Perth based street artist who has worked in many cities including Berlin, Los Angeles and London. In 2002 he was invited to create large scale murals in Greece for the Olympics
Dan Duggan- An experienced urban artist who specializes in large scale murals and public art projects. He also runs a workshop for young people where he teaches graffiti art techniques. One of his best works was a large scale mural in a cyclist underpass in Hay St, Subiaco Perth
Potion X- A Sydney born artist who now resides in Perth. He is primarily a freelance illustrator and a muralist. He is also a youth worker which will be particularly beneficial to this project where the target audience are young adults.

Buskers: There will be live music, which will be local buskers. This is also going to be live through Facebook (on SLAM's page) and the tin for the donations will be in the shape of SLAM's logo and all money raised will go towards the local artists and the work they are doing. 
Local foodies: Getting the local food trucks or cafes to come and support our cause. SLAM wont be paying the food trucks or stalls they can just make their profit from their sales. However there will be a fee of $400 for setting up at the fair. Every plate will have a new and unique design from the different artists and photos and live broadcasts will be taken of these.
