There is a strait that runs between two hills, which look like dragon's teeth. The fields are barren and there are little padi [rice fields]. The climate is hot with very heavy rains in the fourth and fifth moons . The inhabitants are addicted to piracy, Here, the natives and the Chinese love side by side. 

The second group of people live around he hill behind Long ya men. The hill is called Pan Tsu and its terraces resemble a coil. People live around the hill. The soil is poor and grain is scarce . The climate is irregular , for there is heavy rain in summer , when it is rather cool. By custom and disposition the inhabitants  are honest. They are under the rule of a local chief. They boil sea water to obtain salt and ferment rice to make wine.

Ancient Chinese historical reports and the Sejarah Melayu (Malay Annals) recorded Temasek as a fishing village with its thriving city and capital, Kuala Temasek, located at the original mouth of the Singapore River, in the vicinity of the present Queen Elizabeth Walk.⁵ Sang Nila Utama from Palembang renamed Temasek as Singapura (“Lion City” in Malay) when he and his followers settled here between the late 12th and early 13th centuries. The orang laut were also the earliest inhabitants in the area. The ancient relic known as the Singapore Stone testifies to the location’s ancient origins.⁶

Based what i have analysed, Singapore before 1819 was a port [Economic Connection] which is called Temasek where the people from India and China can go to Temasek to trade with other resources like spices from India can be traded with China and Silks from China can be trade with India.
Another Thing I analysed that Singapore before 1819 traveled[Transportation] by boats mainly. They were travelling by boats because for trading , to escape from war and they can look for fish to fry and eat. The last reason i analysed that Singapore before 1819 were working as Farmers to make rice to eat. [Occupation]
